SPA’s annual gala returns to the CCB on 15 March 2017 with live TV broadcast

SPA’s annual TV gala will be held at the CCB (Belém Cultural Center) again in 2017 after having exceptionally taken place at the Teatro D. Maria II national theater this year. The date agreed with the RTP and CCB executives is the 15th of March of next year, and the event will be broadcast live by the RTP2 TV channel from 10 p.m.

This gala will take place during the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of RTP, which was created in March 1957. These celebrations will not be forgotten in the gala, which will highlight the contribution to the creation of the public TV station of important authors connected with SPA, such as João Villaret, Vitorino Nemésio, David Mourão-Ferreira, António Lopes Ribeiro or António Victorino d’Almeida, who is a member of the cooperative’s current Board.

The gala will take place at the CCB’s main auditorium and it will be hosted by Mafalda Arnauth and Pedro Lamares for the second consecutive year. During the event, awards will be delivered in all the creative areas covered by SPA, last year’s best municipal cultural programming will be distinguished and the career of an important national author, whose name will be announced in due time, will be distinguished with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The return to the CCB guarantees more seating capacity and all the technical, reception and communication qualities that this Lisbon cultural and artistic venue offers.

SPA is glad that the negotiations with RTP and the CCB made this possible, as this venue is undoubtedly the best solution for this annual celebration of the cooperative’s life and Portuguese culture.

There will be innovations in the show’s concept and structure, always with the clear concern for celebrating the best of Portuguese creativity with the presence of the authors and the artists that so deserve the applause and acknowlegment of the audience and of the community of authors itself.
