SPA participates in Forum on Culture and Europe promoted by French Ministry of Culture

The Portuguese Society of Authors was represented at the Chaillot Forum on “The Future of Culture, the Future of Europe”, which took place in Paris on April 4-5. SPA’s President, José Jorge Letria, was invited by the French Minister of Culture and Communication, Aurélie Filippetti, to participate in the Saturday morning panel about the future of intellectual property in Europe and its consequences for creators and the book industry (« Le Droit d’Auteur en Europe : Quel Avenir ? Quelles Conséquences pour les Créateurs et l’Industrie du Livre ? »). This panel also featured Myriam Diocaretz, Secretary-General of the EWC (European Writers Council); Jean Claude Bologne, President of the SGDL (Société des Gens de Lettres); Marco Giorello, Deputy Head of the European Commission’s Copyright Unit; Vincent Montagne, President of the SNE (Syndicat national de l’édition); and Emmanuel Pierrat, Lawyer at the Paris Bar, who was the moderator.

SPA’s President was the only executive from a society of authors to participate in this forum promoted by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, where he made a presentation in English entitled “Books: Heritage of Civilization”.

Let it be reminded that José Jorge Letria will become the Chair of CISAC’s European Committee at the Annual General Meeting scheduled to take place late April in Vienna (Austria).

Lisbon, 3 April 2014.
